Skin dryness is a very common skin concern. Almost everyone experiences dry and dehydrated skin at some point in time. Skin dryness is usually transient but some people may experience prolonged dryness of skin for months and years.
What Causes Dry Skin?
Suboptimal production of oil by the skin cells (Sebaceous glands) is the reason why people experience Dry and dehydrated skin.

There are several contributing factors. These include:

  • Genetic predisposition.
  • Excessive UV Exposure (sun damage).
  • Hormonal fluctuation (females).
  • Possible gut health and microbiome irregularity.
  • Excessive use of make-up and make-up wipes.
  • Alcohol and cigarette smoking.
How to Manage Dry Skin.
  • Eliminating or reducing any triggering factors (mentioned above) is always the first step.
  • The primary aim of any skin treatment or skincare products is to regulate the activity of the oil producing glands (sebaceous glands) in the skin.

  • Avoiding any make-up or other products on the skin which impair the functionality of oil glands is very important.
